About BitShares
BitShares is a decentralized exchange (DEX) and financial platform built on its own blockchain, co-created by Dan Larimer (who also created Steem and EOS). Launched in 2014, BitShares pioneered concepts that became foundational to DeFi: the automated market maker, collateralized stablecoins (called bitAssets like bitUSD), and delegated proof of stake consensus. The platform allows users to trade without trusting a centralized party, issue user-created assets, and participate in governance. BTS is the native currency used for transaction fees and collateral for synthetic assets.

How to Swap BTS
Exchanging BitShares (BTS) on SyntheticSwap requires no account creation or identity documents. Open SyntheticSwap, choose BTS as your source or target coin, provide your destination wallet address, and review the floating rate displayed. After sending BTS from your personal wallet to the deposit address, the swap processes automatically and your chosen asset is delivered directly to your wallet. SyntheticSwap never holds your funds at any point during the process.
How to Store BTS
Store BTS in the official BitShares wallet at wallet.bitshares.org or in Magnum Wallet. BitShares uses named accounts instead of public key addresses, making transfers more user-friendly.
