About XRP
XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger, a payment-focused blockchain that settles transactions in about four seconds with fees of a fraction of a cent. It launched in 2012 with a fixed supply of 100 billion, most of which was allocated to Ripple, the company that builds enterprise payment products on top of the ledger.
The years-long SEC case against Ripple ended in 2025, removing the main overhang on US listings, and spot XRP exchange-traded products followed. For users, XRP remains one of the cheapest and fastest assets to move between exchanges and wallets, which is why it is a popular bridge asset.

Destination tags explained
Exchanges and some custodial services give all users one XRP address and tell them apart by a numeric destination tag. If you paste such an address without its tag, the funds arrive at the exchange but are not credited to you — recovering them means a support ticket. Self-custody wallets (Xaman, hardware wallets) do not need a tag; leave the field empty for them.
Every XRP Ledger account also needs a base reserve of XRP to exist. Sending less than the reserve to a brand-new address fails, so if you are swapping into a fresh wallet, swap at least a few XRP.
