About Tether
Tether (USDT) is the largest stablecoin by supply and trading volume, issued by Tether Limited against a reserve of cash equivalents and other assets, and designed to stay at one US dollar. It exists as a token on many blockchains at once: the same USDT can be held on TRON (TRC-20), Ethereum (ERC-20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20), TON, Solana and others, and the networks are not interchangeable — USDT sent on the wrong network is not credited.
For most people the choice of network is about fees and speed. TRC-20 USDT on TRON is the most widely used for transfers because fees are low and confirmation takes seconds; ERC-20 USDT on Ethereum is the most widely accepted by DeFi and exchanges but costs gas; BEP-20 is cheap and common on Binance-linked services; USDT on TON is used inside Telegram wallets.

Before you swap USDT: what to check
- •Receiving address format: T… (34 characters) — a TRON address.
- •Networks: TRON (TRC-20), Ethereum (ERC-20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20), TON. Each network is a separate asset in the form — USDT sent on the wrong network is not credited.
- •Deposit confirmations: 1 on TRON (TRC-20) (block time Depends on network). The rate is locked when the deposit confirms, not when you broadcast.
- •Limits: minimum and maximum are shown in the form for each pair and change with fees and liquidity.
- •Moving it later: sending USDT onward from TRON (TRC-20) needs a little TRX (or rented energy) in the same wallet.

Which USDT network should I pick?
Receive on TRC-20 (TRON) if you want the lowest fees and instant settlement and your destination wallet or exchange supports TRON. Receive on ERC-20 (Ethereum) if the funds are going into Ethereum DeFi or a service that only accepts Ethereum deposits — expect gas costs when you move it later. Receive on BEP-20 if you use BNB Chain wallets or Binance-ecosystem services. Receive on TON if the funds are going to a Telegram wallet.
Sending USDT between your own networks is one of the most common uses of the swap form: pick, for example, USDT (ERC-20) → USDT (TRC-20), paste your TRON address and send the ERC-20 deposit. The amount that arrives is the deposit minus the exchange spread and the payout fee — there is no bridge, no wrapped token and no account.
Deposit confirmations by network
TRC-20 deposits are credited after 1 confirmation (a few seconds); ERC-20 after 15 confirmations (about 3 minutes); BEP-20 after 10 confirmations (about 30 seconds); USDT on TON after 20 confirmations (under two minutes). USDT on TON uses a Payment ID (memo) in some wallets — enter it in the form if your wallet shows one.

- 2025Tether announces a US-regulated stablecoin under the GENIUS Act framework and expands USDT0, an omnichain version, while TRC-20 remains the highest-volume network.

How to store USDT
USDT is held in the wallet of the network it is on: TronLink or a hardware wallet for TRC-20; MetaMask, Rabby or hardware wallets for ERC-20 and BEP-20; Tonkeeper or Telegram Wallet for TON. To move USDT later you need a little of the network's native coin for fees (TRX, ETH, BNB or TON) — except on TRON where energy can be rented or fees paid in TRX.
Because a stablecoin is a claim on the issuer, keep in mind that Tether can freeze addresses on request from law enforcement on every network it controls. Self-custody protects you from exchange failures, not from issuer-level freezes.
