About Maker
Maker (MKR) is the governance token of MakerDAO, one of the oldest and most established DeFi protocols on Ethereum. MakerDAO created DAI — the first decentralized, crypto-backed stablecoin. MKR holders vote on critical protocol parameters including stability fees, collateral types accepted, and risk parameters. The protocol allows users to lock ETH and other approved collateral to mint DAI, effectively creating a decentralized lending system. MKR is burned when DAI loans are repaid, creating deflationary pressure.

How to Swap MKR
Exchanging Maker (MKR) on SyntheticSwap is straightforward and requires no registration or identity verification. MKR is an ERC-20 token built on Ethereum, so you can use MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, or any other Ethereum-compatible wallet to send and receive it. Select MKR in the SyntheticSwap interface, choose your destination coin, enter a receiving address, and confirm the rate. Your swap processes automatically — the destination token arrives in your wallet once the Ethereum transaction is confirmed.
How to Store MKR
Maker MKR is an ERC-20 token stored in any Ethereum-compatible wallet. MetaMask is the most widely used option for MKR holders who also participate in governance. Hardware wallets like Ledger and Trezor provide the highest security for significant MKR holdings. For governance participation, browser-based wallets that integrate with the Maker Governance portal (vote.makerdao.com) are recommended.
