About Railgun
Railgun is a privacy system for DeFi that uses zero-knowledge proofs (zk-SNARKs) to shield token balances and transaction amounts on Ethereum and other EVM chains. Unlike Tornado Cash which only hid amounts but not DeFi interactions, Railgun allows users to interact with any DeFi protocol—DEXes, lending, liquidity pools—while keeping balances and transaction details private. Users deposit tokens into the Railgun shield, perform private DeFi operations, and can withdraw when needed. The RAIL governance token controls protocol parameters and treasury allocation for the Railgun DAO.
