About Ren Protocol
Ren Protocol (REN) was a cross-chain interoperability platform enabling atomic swaps and decentralized bridging of assets between Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other blockchains. The protocol used a network of Darknodes (staked REN nodes) to facilitate trustless cross-chain transactions. Ren Protocol launched in 2020 and gained significant backing from Alameda Research, which provided crucial funding and support. However, after Alameda Research collapsed in November 2022 amid the FTX exchange crisis, Ren Protocol lost its primary financial backer and strategic support. The team subsequently decided to shut down protocol operations. While the REN token remains tradeable on decentralized exchanges as a historical asset, the protocol is no longer actively maintained or functional. REN now serves as a reminder of crypto's interconnected risks during the 2022 financial downturn.

How to Swap REN
Swapping Ren Protocol (REN) on SyntheticSwap requires no registration, KYC verification, or account creation. REN is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and is supported by all major Web3 wallets including MetaMask, Ledger, and Trust Wallet. Navigate to SyntheticSwap, enter REN as your source or destination token, input your receiving wallet address, and review the exchange rate. Send REN to the provided deposit address, and your destination tokens will arrive directly in your specified wallet once the transaction confirms. SyntheticSwap is fully non-custodial and supports swaps of historical tokens like REN.
How to Store REN
Store REN in MetaMask, Ledger, or any ERC-20-compatible Ethereum wallet. While the Ren Protocol is no longer operational, REN tokens can still be held and traded via decentralized exchanges for users exiting positions.
