About Fantom
Fantom (FTM) is a high-performance, scalable smart contract platform designed to overcome the limitations of older blockchains. Built on the Lachesis consensus mechanism — a leaderless asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerant (aBFT) protocol — Fantom achieves finality in about 1 second with extremely low fees. Launched in 2019, Fantom became a major DeFi hub, hosting protocols like SpookySwap, Beethoven X, and Geist Finance. The network is fully EVM-compatible, allowing Ethereum developers to deploy applications with minimal changes. Fantom is transitioning to Sonic, a next-generation upgrade promising even greater speed and developer tooling.

How to Swap FTM
Exchanging Fantom (FTM) on SyntheticSwap requires no account creation or identity documents. Open SyntheticSwap, choose FTM as your source or target coin, provide your destination wallet address, and review the floating rate displayed. After sending FTM from your personal wallet to the deposit address, the swap processes automatically and your chosen asset is delivered directly to your wallet. SyntheticSwap never holds your funds at any point during the process.
How to Store FTM
Fantom is stored on wallets that support the Fantom Opera network. MetaMask can be configured for Fantom by adding the custom RPC (chainId 250, RPC: https://rpc.ftm.tools). Trust Wallet and Coinbase Wallet support Fantom natively. For maximum security, Ledger hardware wallets support FTM through MetaMask with a custom Fantom network configuration. The fWallet (pwawallet.fantom.network) is Fantom's official wallet option.
