About Movement
Movement (MOVE) is an Ethereum Layer-2 network built using the Move Virtual Machine (MoveVM) — the smart contract language originally developed for Meta's Diem blockchain and later used by Aptos and Sui. Movement brings Move's safety advantages (resource-oriented programming, formal verification, no reentrancy attacks by design) to the Ethereum ecosystem via an L2 architecture. MOVE is the native gas and governance token. The project raised $38M and launched its mainnet in December 2024 with one of the largest token airdrops that year, attracting developers from both Ethereum and Move ecosystems.
