About Pump.fun
PUMP is the token of Pump.fun, the Solana platform where anyone can create a memecoin in seconds and trade it on a bonding curve until it graduates to a decentralised exchange. Pump.fun has been the centre of Solana's memecoin activity since early 2024 and is one of the highest-revenue crypto applications ever built.
The token launched on 12 July 2025 in a public sale at $0.004 with a total supply of one trillion, of which a third was sold to the public and private investors and the rest allocated to the team, ecosystem, community and foundation. All sale tokens were unlocked at launch. The public sale excluded US and UK participants, which is one reason PUMP trades heavily on non-custodial venues.

What Pump.fun is and how the token relates to it
Pump.fun is a token launchpad on Solana: a creator names a token, the site deploys it with a fixed supply, and trading starts immediately on a bonding curve — a formula that raises the price as more of the supply is bought. When the curve fills, liquidity migrates to a decentralised exchange (PumpSwap, the platform's own DEX since March 2025). The site takes a small fee on every trade, which has made it one of the largest fee earners in crypto.
PUMP is the platform's own token. Its value is tied to platform activity: the team has used revenue for buybacks, and the token's price has tracked memecoin volumes on Solana closely. It has no role in launching or trading other tokens — you do not need PUMP to use Pump.fun.
Receiving PUMP: Solana wallet mechanics
PUMP is an SPL token. A Solana wallet holds it in a token account that is created automatically when the first PUMP arrives; that creation costs a small amount of SOL, which the payout covers, and your wallet needs a little SOL of its own to send PUMP onward later. Do not use an exchange deposit address unless the exchange explicitly lists PUMP deposits.
